General Application Questions

  • You can submit a PowerSchool Enrollment at this link. Simply sign up and create an account to get started on your application. You may easily check and/or review your application status at any time by signing into your PowerSchool Enrollment account.

  • No. Once scholars are enrolled, there is no need to reapply. This includes 8th grade scholars.

  • No. If you submitted a Dr. Richard Izquierdo Health and Science Charter School application through the NYC Charter Center, your application will automatically transfer to our database. There’s no need to submit more than one application.

  • No. Acceptance to Dr. Richard Izquierdo Health and Science Charter School does not affect and is not affected by the NYC DOE admissions process.

  • Once the form is submitted, the information is sent directly to the school. Please contact the school directly at 718.378.0490 in order to correct this information.

  • We continue making seat offers through the first semester. Mid-year transfers are based on seat availability and the school's waitlist.

Lottery Questions

  • April 3rd at 300 pm. After April 3rd, applications will be accepted on a rolling basis.

  • Lottery results are released immediately after the lottery. Results are sent to the applicants by email. You can also log in to your PowerSchool Enrollment account to check your status at any time.

  • Families will receive an email from PowerSchool Enrollment. There’s an option under your email to ""Accept"" or ""Decline"" the offer. If you accept the offer after 24 hours you will receive an email with a unique link to complete the registration for your student. Instructions will be at the email to complete your online registration.

  • No. Students who do not get an offer during the lottery are automatically added to the waitlist. We continue to make offers throughout the first semester based on seat availability. To clarify, 5th & 8th grade waitlist applications will not rollover to the 6th and 9th grade. You must reapply to the 6th or 9th grade to enter our lottery.

  • Yes. Applications do not automatically transfer from one year to the next.

Waitlist Questions

  • Scholars not selected in the lottery are automatically added to their grade’s waitlist. Any applicable preference is automatically applied.

  • Families will move to the top of the waitlist if they are a:

    • Dr. Richard Izquierdo Health and Science Charter School sibling family

    • Child of an employee

    • District Resident

    • ELL

    • Special Education

  • You can attend one of our Information Sessions and/or In person and Virtual Open Houses to tour the school.

  • Dr. Richard Izquierdo Health and Science Charter School greatly values and recognizes the many benefits of multilingualism for our students and their families, as well as our school communities. Our schools offer integrated English as a New Language programming that is developed to support each MLL student’s unique academic and linguistic profiles. When possible, Dr. Richard Izquierdo Health and Science Charter School provides multilingual students with the opportunity to further develop their home language skills.

Registration and

Enrollment

  • You will need to upload:

    • Student Birth Certificate

    • Parent ID

    • 2 proof of address (Registration email will have instructions on the accepted proof of address)

    • Student Immunization record and last physical form

    • Child’s final report card and/or transcript

    • Child’s IEP if applicable

  • You will receive an automatic ‘registration complete’ notification via email and that confirms the registration packet is complete and that your student’s seat is safe for the registration period. You will have to schedule an in-person appointment to complete complementary paperworks.

  • To complete your student’s enrollment, you must submit the paperwork listed in your ‘registration complete’ notification. Once this is submitted, you will receive a ‘registration verified’ notification.
